Family owned and operated since 1962, PDRS is not your average horse tour and trail ride, it's an experience. Observe a completely different part of Palo Duro Canyon that is only offered to the public on the back of a horse. Whether you're an experienced rider or a "tender foot", PDRS is sure to show you a great time as they open their backyard to you and your family.
PDRS is the longest running riding stable in and around Palo Duro Canyon that began as a dream by Jim Sorenson and his father. Jesse is 3rd generation, continuing the visions of his father and grandfather. We are blessed to have 4th and 5th generations working along side us as well. The legacy prevails with wranglers dressed in 1800-style clothes, carrying six guns, and upholding true, southern hospitality.
Weather permitting, we are OPEN YEAR ROUND!!!
Especially in the “off season,” we are only open by reservation. If there are not any rides on the books, maintenance is generally planned for the day, so same day reservations are hard to come by. All reservations are made by phone. Credit card information is required at the time of reservation. A 24 hour cancellation notice is also required to avoid being charged the full amount for the ride.
Ride into the old west with cowboys and cowgirls, underneath some of the oldest and largest cottonwood trees in the panhandle, pass by spring water coming right out of the canyon wall providing a creek almost all year round. With more trees per acre than just about anywhere in the entire canyon, late morning and, occasionally, midday rides can be quite comfortable. Backpacks and bags are discouraged as we ride in a very wooded area. Saddle bags for water, cameras, and phones are provided at no extra cost to you, the guest.
Jesse Sorenson is 3rd generation here at PDRS. Growing up in the saddle with a gun on his hip, Jesse spent his childhood entertaining folks from all over the world. Many of the horses in the PDRS herd are direct descendants from the horses that Jesse rode as a kid. Jesse is married to Kristin (you'll probably talk to her when you call for a reservation), and 40 feet from where he grew up, they are raising their daughter, Kodi Jo and son, Kash.
